The Regional Collaboration Working Group members organize to make sure the Washington Metropolitan region's non-profit community is an effective participant in regional agenda-setting and decision-making processes which may promote or impede regional equity. A desire to grow effective collaborative sectoral working relationships was an early driver of WREN's creation.
Before WREN, the region's business sector, represented by the Greater Washington Board of Trade (GWBOT) and its elected officials, represented by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) did not have a broad and diverse regional vehicle through which to interact consistently with the region's non-profit sector. Today, Regional Collaboration Working Group members are pursuing a number of collaborative initiatives with the Board of Trade and Council of Governments as "collaborators who reserve the right to criticize".
Up to eight working group meetings are planned for 2008. Interested organizations and individuals are invited to contact:

Regional Collaboration Meeting Notes July 2008 July 16: The monthly meeting was held at Washington Grantmakers. During the meeting we discussed WREN's role in the development of the GW 2050 Initiative. March 2008 March 26: WREN hosted a conference call for area nonprofits to learn and discuss how the Greater Washington 2050 process addresses their interests in the region. May 2007 May 3: Regional Collaboration Project Meeting: Kathy Whelpley (Community Foundation) and others met to discuss next steps and collaboration on a POST EGW project. NEWS: The Regional Collaboration Working Group is working with Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments in the Greater Washington 2050 Coalition. The initiative focuses on transportation planning, energy costs, climate change, and other key challenges facing the National Capital Region in the decades ahead.
